Edward Poynter

Sir Edward John Poynter, 1st Baronet, PRA (20 March 1836 – 28 July 1919) was an English painter, designer, and draughtsman who served as President of the Royal Academy. He was born in Paris on March 20, 1836; but soon afterwards his parents returned to London, and most of his boyhood was spent in Westminster, the family living first near Poets’ Corner, and afterwards in Queen Anne’s Gate.
