Louvre MuseumThe Louvre Museum (French: Musée du Louvre) – the largest and most celebrated museums in the world, which had 8.5 million visitors in 2008. Located in Paris, France. The building, the former royal palace, located in the center of Paris. Its main hall, which is currently the Louvre pyramid erected in one line Champs – Eliza along. It creates a historical section, which is located in Paris’s many historic monuments. Royal Palace of the Louvre first opened to the public on November 8, 1793, during the French Revolution.

History

Louvre at the beginning of the century (1200 years) was built by King Philip Augustus ordered a fortress. Detamlev remodeled at the end of the XIV century, and since then, the Louvre became a royal residence. It was demolished in 1546 and a French architect Pierre leskom (1510-1574) built a palace – a beautiful statue of the Renaissance. Sculptural decoration is the author of the sculptor Jean Goujon. The second half of the XVII century residence of the kings of the Louvre anymore.  He was the Artist’s repository, and since 1793 by a decree of the National Art Museum of the envelope.

Leonardo da Vinci’s painting “Mona Lisa” is preserved in the museum.
